After serving as Show Chairperson for over 10 years, Teresa Balsbaugh has decided to take a well deserved break and let someone else take a turn. I decided to help out as Show Chairman for the 2026 show. I am sending this to past and prospective exhibitors and vendors.
For those that are not aware, the MVWCA Show is traditionally the start to the “woodcarving season” in the Cincinnati/Dayton area. There is space for approximately 70 tables. It is conveniently located 1-1/2 miles off the I-75 exit. There are several hotels and restaurants located at that exit as well as the next exits to the north and south.
Please consider joining us this year. We would like to have a variety of high quality woodcarvers exhibiting their works to make for a show that many people will want to attend. Be assured that this show will be well publicized to bring in as many attendees as possible. Demonstrations and a carving raffle will further enhance their day at the show, and these will be made known in the promotional materials. The show competition will award $2000 in prizes. All the details are included in the attached documents. Please note the following:
- As space is limited, applications will be taken on a first come basis. Please submit your show application as soon as possible so you don’t get left out.
- As we did last year, the Competition judging will take place at 8pm Friday with entries being taken between 5:30 and 7:30pm. This means that ALL carvings will be back on your tables for the start of the show on Saturday.
- Door prizes at the banquet will be conducted as an exchange. If you would like a door prize, you need to donate one on the day of the banquet (Saturday).
- On the Show Application, we are also soliciting items for the Major Raffle. This is not for the door prizes.
Most of the information you need is in the enclosed documents, however, if you have any questions, please contact me at BissonnetteFamily@gmail.comor call me at 513-283-4062.
Please return the last page of this packet to me, along with your payment, to secure a table for our show. Applications will be taken until all the space is filled.
Each year, we have a Featured Carver who gives a pre-show seminar. This year, this will be the MVWCA’s own Teresa Balsbaugh! She will be conducting a 3-day (Wednesday – Friday) seminar on carving a scarecrow bust as pictured below. This will also include her painting techniques. Teresa is an excellent carver and an outstanding teacher. The cost is $150 which includes the roughout and glue for doing the hair. If you would like to sign up for that, please include payment when you return your show application.
Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you at the show!
